It’s officially, Superbowl Sunday in the states right now, so the perfect opportunity to share my newest addition to the slashie/recipe archive, Bourbon and Cola Chicken Wings. Not only, are they sticky and addictive but they’re totally moreish too. One bite and you’ll hooked like a crack addict (or say Charlie Sheen)—they really are that good.

So get that napkin ready and tuck it into the neck of your t-shirt, roll up those sleeves and get your paws ready. This is the kind of food you eat with your hands and lick your fingers afterwards. Trust me, you won’t stop until you’ve demolished an entire platter of them. Just for kicks, why not serve ’em up with some slaw (extra mayonnaise please) and some onion rings too. YOU’LL NEED:

2 kg of chicken wings
Olive Oil
Chilli Powder
Salt + Pepper

2 cans of bourbon and cola (available at liquor store)
4 tbs of Chipotle Hot Sauce
2 tbs Honey
6 tbs Butter

 
 
[the food] Sticky Bourbon Cola Chicken Wings [/the food]

  1. Rub wings in generous amount of olive oil, chilli powder, salt and pepper – don’t be stingy!
  2. Bake for 45 minutes until brown at 180 degrees
  3. Meanwhile in pot on the stove combine, butter, bourbon and cola, chipotle sauce and honey
  4. Bring to boil and then reduce heat to a simmer until sauce is thick and coats the back of a spoon
  5. Once wings have cooked for 45 minutes, pour off oil and add sticky reduced sauce all over wings
  6. Return to oven for additional 10 minutes until sticky and caramelised
  7. Serve with slaw and onion rings
