A few girlfriends and I regularly go on a food safari. Each month, one of the group is responsible for picking everyone up and driving us to an undisclosed location. The idea is that it’s good cheap food, in a suburb we’ve never been to before. This month, it was my turn and I had a Lebanese restaurant in Greenacre picked out. I had the route all mapped out when someone at work said mentioned that Paul’s Famous Hamburgers in Sylvania is the place to go, and I wasn’t about to argue—the reviews online sold me straightaway. Bingo!
You see, it’s not just about the food. Or the giggles and gossip. It’s all about the playlist too! If it’s your turn, then you have to create the playlist too. Since I’ve still got the Ford EcoSport Titanium, it was super easy just to bluetooth my iphone and stream my playlist from there. I think I had just as much fun creating the playlist than chowing down on one of Paul’s famous burgers,—but we’ll get to that. I unleashed some pure gold on the group during the drive. Vanilla Ice. Salt ‘n Pepper. Colour Me Badd. Oh…and Snow. Pure gold. We wound down the windows and sang like the wind. It was hilarious! We all felt like we were 13 all over again!
YOU SEE, IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE FOOD. OR THE GIGGLES AND GOSSIP. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE PLAYLIST TOO!
Once we got to Paul’s, we knew we’d arrived from the queue out the door. We all got a burger with the lot and a Pineapple Crush—their speciality. (Okay, we got some fries to share too.) The burgers were insanely big. At at $5.50, a bargain too! It was a good take on the classic Aussie hamburger and I could imagine, the perfect cure to a Sunday morning hangover too!
All in all, the food safari was a hit, and I scored bonus points for such a stellar playlist. Next stop, Persian Kebabs in Auburn. Who’s in? MC
