Y’know how your Mum just has this knack of knowing things before you do? She’s always right. Always. (Damn her and her freaky psychic abilities!) For instance, she knows it’s not going to work between you and Mr. Bad Boy, well before you’ve even had a chance to hop on his bike and ride off into the sunset on a dusty road somewhere out in the desert, arms wrapped firmly around his waist, wind flowing through your hair. Not that it happened – but if it did – it would go something like that!
Well, the Philips PerfectCare Iron is your Mum…except in an iron. It’s psychic. Well, kind of. Now wait for it, because it’s going to blow your mind (okay, that might be a slight exaggeration) but the PerfectCare uses a technology called ‘Optimal Temp’ which means that there’s no temperature dial. Crazytown. No temperature dial. It really does take a while to wrap your head around the concept.
SHE’S ALWAYS RIGHT.
Basically, it maintains the perfect combo of low temperature and high steam that makes it 100% safe on all fabrics, even that little silk number you dropped a mortgage repayment on in NYC, hiding in the back of your wardrobe. Okay, that was me. Caught!
The only bad part? I used to be afraid that I’d ruin something, so I’ve shirked ironing anything for the last 5 years. Thanks SilverFox, I owe ya a big one! Well, sadly those days are over, so I took the bull by the horns and ironed my little heart out. And I know you probably don’t believe me – so I’ve included all the dirty photographic evidence. Shocking stuff. Whowouldathunkit? MC

// The Philips PerfectCare.

// Optimal Temp Technology.

// Let’s get this party started.

// The before shot. Yeouch.

// Let’s just say, I pulled EVERYTHING apart.

// Now. that’s better.

// Getting there…

// Organising porn right there.

// It’s a work-in-progress, but I’m almost there.

I’ve never been one of those people that takes a candle with them when they travel. I don’t know why, maybe because packing usually involves me hurling clothes across the room and then sitting on my suitcase to close it. Elegant, much? And also, because a little teeny weeny part of me has always thought it…rather extravagant.
I can’t explain why, since I buy candles all the time. I’ve always preferred lighting candles ’round the house and having a lamp on. It really is amazing what soft-lighting can hide. No really! It also sets the mood, if you know what I mean? Boom chicka wah wah! Just as an aside, I highly recommend ‘The Best of Sade’ if you’re after some baby-I-love-it-when-you-do-that tunes.
If this were a movie, your screen would fade to black and cut to the next scene.
Recently, I was sent a travel size candle from the lovely peeps at Palm Beach Collection (http://www NULL.palmbeachcollection NULL.com NULL.au/). So on a weekend outta town recently I took it along for the ride. Instead of dimming the hotel downlights (whoever thought of downlights in hotel rooms should be shot) I whipped out ma’candle. Just be careful you don’t go setting off any fire alarms. (Safety first people!) Let’s just say the candle was well-received and if this were a movie, the screen would fade to black and cut to the next scene. Let’s just imagine that shall we?
Moving right on! The mini collection (http://www NULL.palmbeachcollection NULL.com NULL.au/) of candles is available in scents such as Clove and Sandalwood, Fig, Cassius and Mandarin, Coconut & Lime and French Vanilla. Not only are they eco-friendly, but they’re also hand poured, made from essential-oil infused soy wax – and you can pick one up for the bargain price of $14.95 to boot! (http://www NULL.palmbeachcollection NULL.com NULL.au/) Cue: boom chicka wah wah! MC

// Love the packaging!

// Can you believe these are hand poured?

// I’m converted. I love travel candles!
