Kitchen By Mike Koskela, Rosebery, Sydney

It’s the place everyone (even my mum) in Sydney is talking about. Kitchen By Mike is a canteen (translation: hipster word for cafe) nestled in the Koskela showroom in Sydney’s Rosebery. Even though it’s situated in what was once known as ‘culinary no man’s land’ it doesn’t stop hipsters from all over Sydney coming in droves.

One tiny disclaimer: go early – or expect to channel a driver at the Formula 1 because you’ll be doing laps to find a park – not that it matters, for our fixie-riding-hipster friends. I jest, of course!

Hipster jokes aside, I really can understand why it’s so popular – it does, after all, combine my two favourite things; shopping and food. Win/Win. Russel Koskela and Sasha Titchkosky are the clever little cookies behind Koskela who have carefully curated a selection of Australian made home accessories and gifts available to buy. Cushions? Cards? Copper pots?  Trust me, Possum, you’re bound to find something you love. I know I did and I just so happened to make a (very long) list. Hint hint!

So, after you’ve racked up a rather large credit card bill (I’m joking SilverFox) just a few feet away you can rest your poor little tootsies after a hard day working shopping and get nomming. The man behind Kitchen By Mike, Mike McEnearney sources produce fresh from the markets each and every day, which means the menu changes daily. Nice one Mike!

It gives you the perfect excuse to keep coming back; you’ll never ever get bored. Although judging from all the fabulous wares on display, it might just turn out to be the most expensive meal you’ve ever had! Well, as they say, forewarned is forearmed. Might want to cut up the credit card first. Don’t say I didn’t warn you… MC

// So many things on my ‘to buy’ list.

// The food. NOM!

// I stopped by for a quick peppermint tea.

// Okay, okay and a little somethin’ somethin’ too! Guilty as charged Officer.

It’s all about the details Darling:
