18 cannon Square, 10200 Penang, Malaysia
Founded in 1835, if you’re looking to explore some of the history of Penang, a visit to Leong San Ton Khoo Kongsi, southwest of Georgetown is a must. Hidden among shophouses, once upon a time, it was said that Leong San Ton Khoo Kongsi was one of the most majestic clanhouses in South East Asia. Once you see the wood cavings and the intricate details throughout the building up close, it’s easy to understand why—they are simply breathtaking. In stark contrast, just nearby, there are also some great laneways to wander down, filled with modern street art. This one’s a tale of two contrasts.
